Diagnostics & Treatment at Dr. Koulechov's Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Practice

Who we are here for

We support children, adolescents, and young adults from 6 to 21 years old – whether they're experiencing initial uncertainties or dealing with pronounced mental health issues.

Typical issues and diagnoses include: ADHD, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, depression, school and academic difficulties, trauma-related disorders, autism spectrum disorders and schizophrenia.

From the age of 16, you can also book and attend appointments independently. Nevertheless, we recommend involving your parents or guardians to develop a good strategy together and discuss support options.

Diagnostics

Depending on the issue, our diagnostic and therapeutic services are available to all insured persons (statutory and private) and self-pay patients to the same extent.

We operate according to the latest scientific knowledge and current guidelines.

Consultation & Social Psychiatric Support (SPV)

Children, adolescents, and young adults are our focus. We also involve their environment: family, school, and circle of friends.

We advise parents and caregivers and work together to develop practical strategies for everyday life. Brief, supportive individual sessions can take place to bridge waiting times.

With your consent, we coordinate with the school, pediatricians, family doctors, or youth welfare services, if necessary, to open up new perspectives.

Medical Treatment

Additional medication treatment (e.g., for ADHD or depression) is always carefully considered and discussed transparently.

Progress checks take place regularly.

Groups & Training

Group sessions – for example, social skills training or parent groups – can complement the treatment and helpfully bridge the waiting time for further assistance.

Many find the exchange with others motivating and supportive.

What we do not offer

We do not offer individual psychotherapy (standard psychotherapy).

However, we can advise you on suitable options and provide support within the framework of social psychiatric care, if possible.

What does the process look like?

We offer diagnostics, counseling, and various therapy options for children from the age of 6 and adolescents or young adults up to the age of 21.

  • The quickest way is by phone or via the registration form. We will call you back or confirm receipt.

We can clarify questions over the phone and make appointments for the initial consultation, diagnostics and Evaluation review; you will also receive a document checklist and the parent questionnaire from us.

  • In the first consultation, we take a lot of time for you. We try to understand your child and their situation as much as possible. We clarify the reason for the visit and listen to the problems or concerns. We speak together, but also with parents and children alone.

  • In our diagnostic appointment, various test procedures take place depending on the issue. These include performance diagnostics, attention testing, and various questionnaires for emotional diagnostics. Parents and, with consent, the school also receive questionnaires.

  • In the Evaluation review , the observations and evaluated results are explained clearly and, if necessary, a diagnosis is made with clear recommendations (therapy, support, medication if necessary) for further action.
